16.30 departs from the apartment where Clara Aldén and Henning Klungtvedt live together with their family.
In the gallery space, fragments of the apartment’s walls and rooms are recreated. The structures do not function as a home, but as carriers of painting and sculpture. They become projection surfaces for works whose motifs are drawn from situations and events that have taken place in the apartment. At first glance, the motifs may appear everyday or banal, yet they contain experiences that are both meaningful and charged with political and philosophical dimensions.
Aldén had her first child during her undergraduate studies and has since been working on a long-term artistic project examining the conditions of parenthood. Co-creation is a central part of her artistic practice, and 16:30 invites the entire family as active participants in the artistic process.
